The story so far…
In January 2017, Hands on India returns to Siliguri, West Bengal for our 11th trip. Our team of 32 chiropractors will fly from Delhi to Bagdogra and then on to our base as guests of Seva Kendra Mission. For two weeks we will travel to surrounding villages and set up temporary clinics to provide chiropractic and basic medical care.
Resources and medical care in these areas is very limited for the hard working labourers who work tea picking or breaking rocks for road base. Most suffer many musculo-skeletal problems from a lifetime of hard physical work. We look forward to being able to provide care and work to help improve their quality of life.
We have assembled a terrific team who look forward to working and learning together. This year we will take new graduate chiropractors from Macquarie and Murdoch Universities amongst a team of chiropractors with a wealth of experience, diverse skills and knowledge base. We will also be taking 4 assistants to manage each of the outreach clinics. All travelling volunteer their time, pay for their own travel expenses and work hard to fund raise to support our community projects.
During our trip we look forward to visiting the 7 schools and 700 primary children we fund and ensure they are receiving a quality education. We also will be meeting with Women Empowerment Groups to speak to the women who have received financial funding and find how this is changing their ability to support their family health and education.
We urge you to support us by donation, attending our fundraising events or any way you can so we can continue our support.
Please note 100% of all funds raised goes directly to setting up our temporary clinics with drivers, interpreters and necessary supplies, as well as funding the 7 schools and our ongoing microeconomics Women’s projects.
